10 Movie Trailers That Had the Internet Saying WTF?

The bizarre new teaser for A24’s upcoming documentary You Can See Everything has everyone online asking: What is Nathan Fielder cooking?

And it got us thinking about the recent movie trailers that completely hijacked the conversation – the ones that made us pause, replay, send them to the group chat, and spiral on TikTok for weeks.

1. Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)

A marketing nightmare featuring a sleep paralysis demon with human teeth. WTF Rating: Please delete this monster.

2. Poor Things (2023)

Basically Victorian Barbie after chugging three glasses of absinthe. WTF Rating: Beautiful but completely unhinged.

3. Beau Is Afraid (2023)

Ari Aster marketed this movie like human anxiety had finally become a summer blockbuster. WTF Rating: We’re all afraid now, Ari.

4. The Substance (2024)

A trailer that escalated from Hollywood satire to pure body horror in 30 seconds flat. WTF Rating: Respectfully… absolutely not.

5. Longlegs (2024)

A masterclass in terror where Nicolas Cage was barely seen but everyone left completely traumatised. WTF Rating: What did you do to my boy Nic!?!

6. Trap (2024)

A wholesome dad takes his daughter to a concert, except surprise… dad is a serial killer and the whole concert is a plot to catch him. WTF Rating: Calm down M. Night, we don’t need twists in the trailers too!

7. Cocaine Bear (2023)

Universal Pictures dropped a trailer about a 500-pound apex predator out of its mind on a massive duffel bag of illegal drugs. WTF Rating: Step aside The Revenant, this is a guaranteed cinematic masterpiece.

8. Civil War (2024)

Dropped like a political grenade with a vision of America that felt a little too plausible. WTF Rating: Jesse Plemons and those damn red shades.

9. Cats (2019)

Nobody knew how to process human faces on CGI fur in a trailer that still gives us nightmares. WTF Rating: The only thing that could make this worse is James Corden… oh wait…

10. Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023)

The exact moment the public domain went entirely too far by turning a wholesome childhood icon into a feral, bloodthirsty slasher. WTF Rating: Currently jabbing Poohsticks into my eyes
