From the quirky imagination of Cybela Clare comes the riotous crime comedy Déjà Vu: The Conundrum of Cassie, the sequel to Clare’s film The Peril of Pauline. Clare wrote, directed, and starred in this madcap caper featuring a missing parrot, the Russian Mob, and a serial stalker in a wheelchair.
We follow Cassie (Clare)–a Dolly Parton wannabe–through many picturesque New York settings as she is menaced by several hairy reprobates with heavy Russian accents. Various detectives, doctors, and NYC residents try in vain to make sense of the cross-cultural shenanigans.
Cybela Clare, a graduate of Columbia University who is fluent in six languages, has managed to find fresh sources of humor in well-worn serial killer and Cold War plots. Most viewers will probably end up loving her as much as Detective Mike O’Shea (Erin. T. Allen).
Déjà Vu: The Conundrum of Cassie, which is due to be released on September 19th, may spark new interest in its predecessor, The Peril of Pauline, which in true Clare style will debut on October 17th. The zany Cybela Clare cineverse awaits!
