Close-Up: An Interview With Rising Star Spencer Moss

Rising star Spencer Moss stops by on Close-Up Culture to talk about her role in season 2 of DreamWorks’ enchanting series, Dew Drop Diaries. The dynamic young actress adds a magical touch to the animated world, captivating audiences with her expressive and engaging performance.

Hi Spencer, welcome to Close-Up Culture. How excited were you to return for series 2 of Dew Drop Diaries?

I was very excited and blessed to be part of an amazing project and wonderful cast and crew! The writer and executive producers, Rick Suvalle and Aliki Theofilopoulos are like family to me now. I love them so much and I hope I get to work on more projects with them in the future.

Can you tell us about some of the adventures Harper gets us to in season 2?

There is a fun episode in season two where Harper wants to bake a key lime pie for her mother but finds out they have no limes. There were no limes in the grocery store either. Eden, Phoebe, and Athena help her come to a resolution and she uses different fruits for her ingredients. She realizes the most important ingredient is love, and that her mom will be so happy with any type of pie because she made it from her heart.

What do you enjoy about working on the show and voice acting in general?

I love voice acting because I get to play so many different characters, sometimes even in the same show. I love speaking with different accents, like British, Russian, and New York! And of course, I love getting to meet so many new people on all of my different shows. When I was in Fancy Nancy, I played Jojo, and my older sister, Nancy, was played by Mia Sinclair Jenness, and she is like a real life sister to me now after all of these years! Getting to work on a project with Tom Hanks and Peter Dinklage was also super cool!

You’ve already been involved in a number of big projects and taken on some big roles. Can you tell us about any standout moments or experiences in your career so far?

I loved shooting a pilot for CBS with Sophie Bush, as my mom, and Allen Leech, as my dad. I got to live in Vancouver and explore that city! Plus, I learned so many things and made lots of friends!

As well as acting, you’re also a talented dancer. What does dance bring to your life?

Dance brings me so much happiness and joy. My dance studio is like my second home. I train there from 3-9 every night and everyone supports one another. Dance is a huge creative outlet for me, I feel free when I dance.

What else have you been up to lately?

I just spent a week in Italy visiting my older brother who was studying in Rome. He is in college. I also have another older brother and older sister so I’m the youngest of four! We saw so many great sights like the Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum. We spent a lot of time in the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel where we actually got to spend some time with a priest that blessed my family! I ate a LOT of pasta and gelato! We also went to Venice and that was amazing! It was so beautiful!

What are your hopes and dreams for the future?

I hope as I become older I will be able to continue doing what I love, which is acting and dancing! I am the HUGEST Harry Potter fan. I have read every book and seen every movie multiple times! So, I want to visit London, also because it is where my mom was born, so I have lots of family over there! Most importantly, I always plan to continue spreading love and kindness. Oh, and hugging every dog in the world!
