Close-Up Culture’s dog month comes to an end with this amazing Labrador Retriever.
Hi Charlie, tell us about yourself…
Hi guys!
I’m Charlie, a chocolate Labrador Retriever. I’m 2 and a half years old and I’m a glutton and enjoy life. I moved to the Basque Country with my mom when I was 2 months old and she loves me madly. I used to live in a paradise called Lab Way, which is in Espinosa de los Monteros (Burgos), where they called me Lab Way Nesquik. Do you like it? My doggy family lives there and I love to visit them.

Can you describe your personality?
I am very friendly and playful since I was born. I feel the need to greet all the furries and humans who look at me in the street, I like to make their day. Sometimes, I am too effusive (because I get too excited and I can’t control myself), but I usually bring a smile to everyone who approaches me. I have a very noble character and a lot of patience, I haven’t been angry a day in my life yet hahaha.
What is your favourite way to spend the day?
We live in a village surrounded by mountains and I love going to the mountains for walks and mud baths, it’s my speciality. Then my parents always have to give me a bath but I have a great time. I also like the beach, I love the water! My mummy gives me time to play in the garden every day, so afterwards I like to take a nap lying on my back before dinner time.
If you had to get in trouble for something, what would it be?
Although I usually eat my ration of food, I like to steal food when my parents are absent-minded. When they are in front of me, I look at them with a little angel face to make them trust me. But when they leave, sometimes (not always), I steal something or other. Usually when that happens, I get into a big mess – I can’t resist the temptation!

What is your favourite place in the world?
My favourite place in the world is anywhere where there is water. I’m very daring and I like to jump into the water from heights. I enjoy swimming, like a good Labrador Retriever. And if my humans join me in the water, even better! I love doing different activities with them.
What is your funniest memory?
I have many memories but if I have to choose one, I’m going to tell you one that my parents were not very happy about. When I was a puppy I loved cutting cables. In more than one occasion, I left my parents without a telephone connection. When they realised that it was me, I had to put on an innocent face so that they wouldn’t tell me off, and it worked!
What does your owner like most about you?
What I like most about my mom is that she lets me be a dog without trying to humanise me. I’ve been very daring and I still am to this day, but my mom lets me be me. She knows my personality very well because she spends a lot of time with me. Just by looking at each other, we understand each other. It takes a lot of time to meet the needs of a dog as big as me, but she is very devoted to me and I am very grateful for that.
To this day, we can’t live without each other.
