Rising Star Niko Ceci On I Woke Up A Vampire

Actor Niko Ceci speaks to Close-Up Culture about his role on the new series, I Woke Up A Vampire.

The show follows 13-year-old half-human, half-vampire Carmie’s journey of self-discovery as she navigates school, deals with a vampire hunter, and even takes part in a musical. The series addresses the challenge of hiding who you are versus wanting to be seen.

Hi Niko, welcome to Close-up Culture. You star in the highly anticipated series, I Woke Up A Vampire. What excited you about the show?

Thank you for having me! The show excited me for many reasons. For one, I feel it is very relatable for tweens. Kev and Carmie are trying to fit in at school. Along with that they are trying to find themselves and who they are. I also love the supernatural elements of the show and all the stunts of course!! Seeing everything come together is truly movie magic.

What should audiences expect from I Woke Up A Vampire?

Audiences can expect to go on a rollercoaster of emotions. They can also expect an adventurous story that consists of many plot twists. They will meet exciting and relatable characters along the way, but above all our audience will be left wanting more at the end of each episode.

Can you tell us about your character Kev, and what did you enjoy most about playing him?

Kev is a smart, funny, comic book loving 13 year old kid. He is an amazing friend and continues to support Carmie throughout her tween years and her discovery of her secret powers. I have had an absolute blast stepping into the role of Kev and I love many things about him.

As I mentioned already, Kev is funny at times but he can also be intense. He takes Camrie’s new challenge (becoming a vampling) very seriously and he uses his years of research and comic book knowledge to protect Carmie from potential enemies as she begins her supernatural life. I love playing these different sides of Kev and being able to pull from my life experiences in order to match the tone and theme of every episode

What did you enjoy most about working on the show?

The entire experience of being on set was truly a dream come true. My favorite part would have to be meeting all of the amazing actors, producers and crew who inspired me and taught me so much about the industry. I also loved growing as an actor alongside all of the extremely talented cast of I Woke Up A Vampire.

You’ll also be starring in the sci-fi anthology series, Circuit Breakers. What can you reveal about your time on that show?

I am so thrilled to be joining the cast of Circuit Breakers for season two. I play the role of Felix. Felix is the captain of the high school marching band. He is a funny yet determined kid. This episode has many plot twists that will keep you on your toes. I cannot say too much because no press has been released, but you can follow me on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or my website to stay up to date on premiere dates. I hope all of you enjoy our episode and the entire Season Two anthology.

What are your hopes and dreams for the future?

I would absolutely love to book a drama or horror movie. This is because I love to push and grow in all aspects of my acting skills. I would love to work on a project that is darker, more dramatic. I would also like to continue to write. Writing is one of my passions. I love to create and share stories of my own. Writing is also extremely therapeutic to me and I would love to one day have one of my movies/tv series produced!
