Actor Mykee Selkin finds twice as much love this holiday season starring in the new original Christmas romance television movies, Scentsational Christmas on Lifetime and Designing Christmas on Discovery+.
Close-Up Culture chat to Mykee about these exciting roles and his favourite Christmas film.
You play Logan in Lifetime’s upcoming movie, ScentsationalChristmas. What drew you to this story?
I was really drawn to the story, because, to me it was about two people finding love in a place they least expected it, and would they let go of the idea of what they thought they wanted. Also I love Christmas and the festiveness, so I wanted to be a part of that.
Can you tell us about Logan and what you enjoyed about playing this character?
Logan is a rugged, bachelor-for-life kind of guy. He is a travel writer always looking for the next adventure, the most unique or rare thing. He loves to travel and is free spirited, I have those same qualities, so I immediately was excited to play him. He has charm and a playfulness – which made it fun.

I understand a lot of Christmas movies are filmed in the summer. How was the shoot on Scentsational Christmas?
Yeah, the last Christmas movie I did filmed in June but this one filmed in Dec, in Hamilton Ontario…it was cold lol. It was so beautiful though, it really helped make the scenes feel real and play into the festiveness of the season.
You also have a role in Discovery+‘s Designing Christmas. Can you tell us anything about that?
I play Jack, Stella’s (Jessica Sohzer) fiancé – a very savy, business minded entrepreneur, who has tons of spirit and is always busy thinking of the next “hit”. He cares for Stella very much, but the two are somewhat disconnected. Jack likes modern homes with poured concrete floors and walls of glass whereas Stella, a designer and co-host of a home show, prefers the coziness of an old Victorian. Stella is beginning to have doubts.
What is your favourite Christmas movie?
Home Alone – it’s a classic.

Who would be your dream co-star in a Christmas movie?
Oh wow, that’s a tough one there are so many powerhouse Christmas female leads. Off the top of my head, I would say Lacey Chabert.
How do you like to spend your time away from the camera?
l like to spend my time with my 5-year-old son. He keeps me pretty busy. I also love to travel, take photos, do yoga, and play golf. And, when I have time, I like to find homes and renovate them.
What are your hopes and ambitions for the future?
As far as acting I would love to be on a doctor or lawyer show, I love the fast pace of those procedurals and the legal and medical fields really intrigue me. Outside of that I would love to have to do an exhibit of all the pictures I’ve taken over the years.
