If her first two singles are anything to go by, Casey Baer is destined for a big and bright career in the music industry.
Close-up Culture’s James Prestridge sat down with the Los Angeles-based artist to chat about making original music, attending BeautyCon LA, dream collabs, and much more.
Q: You’ll be at BeautyCon LA this August. How excited are you to meet your fans and fellow creatives?
A: I am beyond exited to meet my fans and everyone that will be at BeautyCon LA. This is my first year so I’m gonna be like a kid in a candy store!
Q: You mentioned something recently on Instagram about wanting to go traveling. What are some of the places you are yearning to visit? And who would your dream travel partner be?
A: I absolutely love to travel. I really want to go to Italy and Greece. My ideal travel partner is my best friend! We’ve been best friends since we were 5!
She’s so much fun to be with and always down for anything!
Q: Your incredible debut single, ‘Greatest Mistake’, came out earlier this year. How do you reflect on the experience of releasing a single and seeing the response it received?
A: Thank you so much! Releasing my first single was the most amazing experience, I’ve waited and worked my whole life for this moment. I am so grateful for the overwhelming response I’ve been receiving from everyone! There isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t think about how awesome this experience has been. I’m forever thankful for the support I continue to receive.
Q: It is testament to your talent that you’ve already collaborated with the likes of James Fauntleroy, Dave Stroud, Korel Tunador, Dru Decaro, and Nikola Bedingfield. What type of people do you like to work with?
A: Thank you! I love working with people that like to have fun but are also serious about what they do. I’ve been so lucky to work with such talented producers, writers and musicians. I’m so excited to see what the future holds.
Q: Can you give us any names of the people at the top of your list to collab with in the future?
A: My dream collab list is a bit insane, here it is: Justin Bieber, Billie Eilish, Rihanna, Ariana Grande and Elton John! There are so many more but this is the list of artists who have been the biggest inspiration to me.
Q: Tell us about your first two original songs. What inspired you to write them? What are they about?
A: Greatest Mistake, my debut single like all my songs is a true story. It was inspired by falling for the wrong guy (yes I was warned) and getting my heart broken. Hold On is about obsessing about a crush I had and learning when to hold on and when to let go. Never easy!
Q: Tell us more about your upcoming releases.
A: Hold On is out now on all streaming platforms. I have a few more singles ready to go this year, but I haven’t set the exact dates yet, so stay tuned for more details coming soon!
Q: How are you feeling about performing this new music live?
A: Performing live is literally my favorite thing to do! The energy I get from the crowd lasts for days! I love to hear people’s reactions to my songs. It truly is the best feeling when people connect with the stories my songs tell!
Q: Any venues you cannot wait to perform at?
There is nothing I would like more than to perform at Madison Square Garden! But honestly, I just want to travel and perform in as many places as possible.
