The Best Of Adam Driver

FROM the Marines to one of Hollywood’s most beloved actors, Adam Driver has enjoyed a remarkable rise in the last decade. An actor of towering yet gentle skill who can thrive in small-scale indie films about poetry as well as big blockbusters set in a galaxy far, far away.

To celebrate his role in Spike Lee’s BlackkKlansman, Close-up Culture have compiled a list of our favourite Adam Driver films.

10) Lincoln (2012)

MCDLINC FE037

A small but important role for Driver as telegraph operator Samuel Beckwith. Lincoln gave Driver the chance to work with both Steven Spielberg and Daniel Day-Lewis.

9) Midnight Special (2016)

DRIVER impresses as a conflicted NSA communications analyst in Jeff Nichols’ sci-fi film.

8) Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017)

DESPITE some interesting turns for the Kylo Ren character, Driver’s performance in The Last Jedi might be best remembered for the much-meme’d shirtless scene.

7) Inside Llewyn Davis (2013)

driver5

A few years before Poe Dameron and Kylo Ren shared the screen, Driver and Oscar Isaacs were making us laugh in one of the Coen Brothers’ most underappreciated films. Another small role that Driver made the most of.

6) Tracks (2013)

driver6

DRIVER visits Mia Wasikowska for parts of her emotional journey across Australian desert in John Curran’s Tracks.

5) Frances Ha (2012)

driver7

A charming performance alongside the ever-endearing lead presence of Greta Gerwig.

4) Logan Lucky (2017)

driver2

HIGH energy heist thrills as Driver takes on the role of Iraq-war vet Clyde Logan.

3) Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

DARTH Vader’s boots were always too big to fill, so Driver’s Kylo Ren brought something completely different to the Star Wars main baddie role. A fun introduction to the character and a role that cemented Driver’s place among Hollywood’s best.

2) Silence (2016)

Four years after working with Spielberg, Driver takes on a demanding lead role as a Jesuit priest in Martin Scorsese’s Silence.

1) Paterson (2016)

DRIVER’S best performance is also the most low-key. In Jim Jarmusch’s delightful film Paterson, he plays a bus driver who writes poetry about his surroundings and his girlfriend (Golshifteh Farahani).

  1. My favorite role of his so far is actually in the tv show Girls – he has really sharp comic timing and brings gravitas to every scene he’s in. But he’s great in pretty much everything!
